Introduction

TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is a security chip that can be added to your computer's motherboard. This guide will help you determine if your motherboard supports a TPM module and how to find a compatible one.

Step 1: Identify Your Motherboard

  1. Press Windows key + R

  2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter

  3. Look for "Baseboard Manufacturer" and "Baseboard Product" in the System Information window

  4. Note down this information (e.g., MSI MPG x570 Gaming Plus)

Note: If you've used a system spoofing tool, this information might be incorrect. In that case, check your motherboard model in the BIOS during system startup.

Step 2: Check for TPM Header Support

  1. Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website

  2. Find the support page for your specific motherboard model

  3. Look for "Specifications" or "Features" section

  4. Search for "TPM header" or "TPM connector"

If you find mention of a TPM header, your motherboard supports a physical TPM module.

Step 3: Determine TPM Module Compatibility

  1. Download the motherboard manual from the support page of the mainboard

  2. Search for "TPM" in the manual (use Ctrl+F to search)

  3. Look for information about:

    • Pin layout (e.g., 12-1 Pin or 14-1 Pin)

    • Interface type (LPC or SPI)

Pin Layout

  • Count the total number of pins

  • Note any missing pins (e.g., 14-1 means 14 pins with 1 missing)

Interface Type

  • If pin names start or contain L or LPC, it's an LPC interface

  • If pin names start or contain S or SPI, it's an SPI interface

Step 4: Purchase a Compatible TPM Module

Use the information you've gathered to find a compatible TPM module. Look for:

  1. Correct pin count and layout (e.g., 14-1 Pin)

  2. Matching interface type (LPC or SPI)

  3. Compatibility with your motherboard brand (e.g., ASUS, MSI)

Example search terms:

  • "14-1 Pin TPM 2.0 LPC for ASUS"

  • "12-1 Pin TPM 2.0 SPI for MSI"

Important: Ensure the missing pin location matches your motherboard's layout.

Additional Tips

  • Check if your motherboard's chipset is listed in the TPM module's compatibility list.

  • Make sure the PINs match, the description of many stores are also incorrect!

Example

Best is it if you compare the pin layout of your mainboard manual with the one in amazon etc. if available like here:

By following these steps, you should be able to find a compatible TPM module for your motherboard. If you're unsure at any point, contact our support team.
